As 2025 comes to a close, schools across the country are wrapping up another year of rapid tech adoption, evolving classroom needs, and growing expectations around device durability. At Higher Ground, we’ve spent the year listening, learning, and building alongside the administrators, teachers, and tech teams who depend on us every day.
Before we head into an exciting 2026, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the trends that shaped this year, and how they’re guiding the next wave of device-protection innovation.
Districts continue to ramp up their device programs, and 2025 brought a fresh wave of new laptops, tablets, and Chromebooks into student hands. As these fleets evolved, schools continued to rely on Higher Ground’s most trusted solutions: CleanShell™ cases, Datakeeper, and other long-time favorites that have proven their durability year after year.
These products remained top choices because they’re dependable, easy to deploy, and built for the reality of daily student use. At the same time, we worked closely with districts to develop expanded options within our ShockGUARD™ molded solutions, helping schools customize protection as their device needs shift for 2026 and beyond.
2025 also highlighted the rise of new instructional tools across K-12 environments:
With more tools in play, the need for smarter, more protective cases increased. Schools looked for gear that minimized downtime, reduced repair rates, and supported hands-on learning environments, especially in classrooms where devices are constantly on the move.
Our blog on Top Tech Accessories Every Student Needs for 2025 touched on this shift, and districts continue to echo the same message: reliable protection is a must-have, not a nice-to-have.

One of the biggest shifts this year was the rapid rise of cellphone restrictions and lock-away policies across the country. As more states and districts adopted new rules around personal devices, the need for secure, student-friendly storage solutions grew fast.
Many districts turned to VaultED™, Higher Ground’s cellphone pouch designed for easy classroom adoption and minimal disruption. With more schools enforcing “phone-free” instructional time, VaultED helped educators maintain focus while giving students a simple, consistent system for managing personal devices.
These mandates also meant students relied even more heavily on their school-issued laptops and tablets throughout the day, reinforcing the importance of rugged, classroom-ready device protection.

Districts increasingly looked for flexibility, branding, and program-specific solutions. Many tech directors needed cases that could:
Higher Ground’s adaptability stood out this year. With custom solutions, branding options, and large-scale deployment support, we made it easier for districts to streamline their device programs, no matter how unique their environment was.
Our earlier blog, Cybersecurity and Device Protection: A Dual Defense for Schools, sparked important conversations this year. Districts recognized that protecting student technology isn’t just about avoiding scratches or drops, it’s also about safeguarding sensitive data.
Device downtime, damaged hardware, and unsecured equipment can all increase cybersecurity risks. Many schools now treat physical protection as a foundational part of their security strategy, and Higher Ground gear continues to support that combined approach.

2026 is going to be a big year.
Higher Ground will continue expanding our ShockGUARD™ family, our most advanced protection platform yet.

Our priority remains the same: deliver smarter, stronger, more reliable protection that reduces device failures, lowers repair costs, and makes life easier for IT teams and students alike.
To every district, educator, technology leader, and partner, thank you for trusting Higher Ground this year. Your feedback, challenges, and ideas continue to inspire every product we design.
Here’s to a strong finish to 2025 and an even more innovative year ahead.
We’re just getting started.
